Greg Carroll is the President and Owner of Carroll’s Moving & Storage, a third-generation family business founded by his grandfather, William E. Carroll, in 1930 on Martha’s Vineyard. What began as a simple operation — unloading dolly carts from ferries — has grown tremendously. The local business now employs nearly 50 staff members and operates a 53,000-square-foot self-storage facility.
Life in the Moving Industry
Greg’s journey in the moving industry began at birth—literally growing up in the family business, which boasts over 50 years of experience in the industry. From second grade, he chose to wake up at 6 AM on Saturday mornings to work alongside his father while his siblings watched weekend cartoons.
By age 14, he was unloading trailers at night, working five nights a week from 9 PM to 1 AM during the summers while in high school and college.
Taking the Wheel and Leading Growth
After his father, Leigh Carroll, and uncle, Mike Carroll, took ownership in the mid-1970s, Greg gradually assumed leadership responsibilities over the past 15 to 20 years.
Under his guidance, the company has tripled its sales in the last five to six years while maintaining its core values of treating every employee like family and providing personalized service from start to finish.

As a shareholder of Atlas Van Lines—a partnership spanning 65 years—Greg has earned recognition for safety excellence.
